Cars in the Commons

Cars in the Commons was an event held in Norton Commons on June 26th, 2021. It was hosted by Exotic Cars and Coffee Louisville and River City Rippers. The organizer was Eric Benson. It was an overwhelmingly successful occasion. There were over 150 exotic and high-performance cars on display featuring eye-catching Lamborghinis, iconic Astin Martins, and track-ready Porsches. Most cars were paired with an expert to answer any question attendants had about the vehicles. Cars in the Commons was held in the North Village of the neighborhood near the fountain square, one of the most beautiful features of the newer side of the neighborhood. Not only were there cars taken right out of movies to view, but there was also live music at the amphitheater, presenting local and out-of-state bands. People of all ages were well entertained by the cars and the music. Several food trucks were present to ensure that everyone was fed during the annual event.

Spectators could also show their support to Norton Children’s Hospital by purchasing a $100 raffle ticket for a chance to win a BMW X3 or a new home in Norton Commons built by the Ramage Company. Norton Children’s Hospital is the largest children’s hospital in the area and was a leader in helping children during the global pandemic. To help them help more kids all of the raffle money went back to them so they can keep saving more lives. “Kids are near and dear to my heart and Norton is a big employer here in town,” the host Benson said. “They do a lot of stuff to help children and so we thought that would be a really great partner.” To conclude the first annual Cars in the Commons, there was a 30-minute car parade through the neighborhood ending a day to remember.

The event was in partnership with Norton Children’s Hospital and their foundation, BMW Cars of America, Porsche Cars of American, Hardy Builders, 502 Social, Republic Bank, Norton Commons along with Watch Hill Proper, just to name a few.
